سياسة الخصوصية

Last updated: August 1, 2026 • Applies to www.lightingsouq.com and all Lighting Souq storefronts

At Lighting Souq, we respect your privacy and want you to feel confident that your personal data is kept safe with us. This policy explains how Go Green International Trading W.L.L., trading as Lighting Souq (“Lighting Souq”, “we”, “us”, “our”), collects, uses, shares, and protects your personal data when you visit our website, make a purchase, or otherwise interact with us — whether online or through our stores.

It is written to comply with Qatar's Personal Data Privacy Protection Law (Law No. 13 of 2016), and — because we serve customers outside Qatar — with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) where it applies to you. By interacting with Lighting Souq and using our services, you agree to the handling of information described here.

2.1 Who We Are

Lighting Souq is operated by Go Green International Trading W.L.L., a company registered in Doha, Qatar. For the purposes of data-protection law, we are the data controller of the personal data described in this policy. For any privacy matter, contact us at info@lightingsouq.com.

2.2 How We Collect Information

We collect personal data directly from you, automatically as you use our site, and occasionally from other sources. This happens, for example, when you:

  • Register for an account, in-store or online;
  • Shop with us, browse our website, or use our storefronts;
  • Use a voucher, coupon, or promotional code;
  • Contact our support team, or take part in a promotion, survey, competition, or product review.

We also collect technical information about your visit using cookies, web beacons, and log data — including pages requested, operating system, browser details, and the date and time of your request. IP addresses are used to analyse trends, administer the site, and understand broad usage patterns, and are not linked to your identity.

2.3 Information We Collect

Depending on how you interact with us, the personal data we collect may include:

  • Identity and contact details — first and last name, email address, phone number, and delivery and billing address.
  • Account information — your account password and saved preferences.
  • Order and browsing information — products you view, add to cart, add to a wish list, or purchase; order history; and returns and warranty claims.
  • Payment information — we do not collect or store your full card details. Payments are handled by our payment partners (MyFatoorah and PayPal), who secure this information under their own PCI DSS-compliant systems.
  • Communications — a record of your correspondence with our support team, kept to assist you and improve our service.

2.4 How We Use Your Information

We use personal data to run our business and serve you, specifically to:

  • Fulfil your order — process and deliver purchases, settle payments, handle returns and refunds, and issue confirmations and receipts.
  • Communicate with you — send order confirmations and shipping updates, and respond to support requests and enquiries.
  • Market to you, with your consent — send offers, new-product news, and promotions by email, SMS, WhatsApp, or social channels. You can opt out at any time (see 2.8).
  • Improve our website — understand how customers use our site so we can improve listings, speed, and the overall shopping experience.
  • Meet legal and security obligations — comply with Qatari commercial and tax law, prevent fraud, and protect our customers and our business.

2.5 Advertising and Analytics Partners

We use third-party tools to measure site performance and show relevant ads. Small amounts of information about your visit (such as pages viewed or products added to cart) may be shared with:

  • Google — for website analytics (Google Analytics 4) and to show our ads on Google Search, Shopping, and YouTube.
  • Meta (Facebook & Instagram) — to show our ads, including remarketing ads based on products you have viewed.

You can control the ads you see through Google's Ads Settings (adssettings.google.com) and Meta's Ad Preferences (facebook.com/adpreferences), or by adjusting the cookie preferences in your browser.

2.6 Who We Share Your Information With

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We share it only where necessary to run our service, and only with:

  • Payment processors — MyFatoorah and PayPal — to process your payment securely.
  • Shipping carriers — Aramex, DHL, UPS, and FedEx — to deliver your order and provide tracking.
  • Service providers — Shopify (our e-commerce platform), our email and SMS providers, and customer-review tools — solely to operate our store.
  • Legal authorities — where required to comply with a legal obligation or court order, to prevent fraud, or to protect our rights, safety, or property.

Some of these providers (including Shopify, Google, and Meta) process data on servers outside Qatar. Where personal data is transferred internationally, we take reasonable steps to keep it protected consistent with Qatari and, where applicable, GDPR standards.

2.7 Cookies

Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit our website. They help the site function, remember your preferences, and — where you consent — show you more relevant ads. We use four categories:

  • Strictly necessary — required for core functions such as your cart and checkout; these cannot be switched off.
  • Performance and analytics — help us understand how the site is used so we can improve it; these load only with your consent.
  • Functionality — remember choices such as your preferred currency or language.
  • Advertising — used by Google and Meta to show relevant ads and measure performance; these load only with your consent.

On your first visit you will be asked to accept or manage these categories via a consent banner. You can change your choices at any time through your browser settings or the cookie-preference link in our site footer.

2.8 Your Rights and Choices

Under Qatar's PDPPL — and under GDPR if you are located in the EU or UK — you have the right to:

  • Access — ask what personal data we hold about you.
  • Correction — ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete data. We may need to verify the corrected information first.
  • Erasure — ask us to delete your data, except where we must keep it for legal, tax, or order-history reasons.
  • Restriction and objection — ask us to pause processing, or object to processing based on our legitimate interests.
  • Withdraw consent — withdraw consent for marketing or optional cookies at any time, without affecting past processing.
  • Object to direct marketing — opt out of marketing at any time. Use the unsubscribe link in any email, or reply with the opt-out keyword in an SMS.

To exercise any of these rights, email info@lightingsouq.com. We will respond within a reasonable timeframe and in line with PDPPL requirements. You also have the right to complain to the competent Qatari data-protection authority about how we have handled your data.

2.9 Ratings and Reviews

If you submit a rating or review, you confirm that it is your own work, is honest and accurate, and does not infringe anyone else's rights or contain unlawful, offensive, or misleading content. We may remove or decline to publish any submission at our discretion.

2.10 Fraud Awareness

Lighting Souq will never ask you for your bank details, passwords, or one-time codes by phone, SMS, or email in order to “claim a prize” or process a refund. If you receive a suspicious message claiming to be from Lighting Souq, do not share any details — please report it to us at info@lightingsouq.com and to the relevant authorities.

2.11 Data Security

We use industry-standard safeguards — including SSL/HTTPS encryption across our entire site — to protect your data. Payment details are handled directly by our PCI DSS-compliant payment partners and are never stored on our own servers. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, but we take reasonable precautions to protect your information against loss, misuse, and unauthorised access.

2.12 How Long We Keep Your Information

We keep your account and order information for as long as your account is active, and for a further period afterward as required for tax, accounting, and warranty-claim purposes under Qatari commercial law. Marketing data is kept only until you withdraw consent or unsubscribe.

2.13 Children's Privacy

Lighting Souq is not directed at children, and registration requires you to be 18 or older. We do not knowingly collect data from minors. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact us at info@lightingsouq.com and we will remove it.

2.14 Governing Law

This Privacy Policy is governed by the laws of the State of Qatar. Any dispute relating to it is subject to the competent courts of Qatar, without prejudice to any mandatory data-protection rights you may have under the law of your own country of residence.

2.15 Changes and Contact

We may update this policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or the law; the “last updated” date above will always show the most recent revision, and continued use of our site means you accept the updated policy.
